Hello &
Welcome…
…in our small yet beautiful 4-star hotel in the heart of South Tyrol
We have been running our family business for generations, and we are pleased to introduce ourselves:
Our friendly senior managers Heinrich and Klara, who will give you excellent hiking tips and sometimes even accompany you.
Alex – our manager, bike guide, and enthusiastic motorcyclist, his wife Steffi, who will put a smile on your face in the morning at breakfast. Lion and Emma are our youngest generation.
We and our team will be happy to advise you on how to make your holiday in Varna near Bressanone unforgettable.
Ambience & Location
Your feel-good hotel in the heart of the Isarco Valley
Don’t be surprised if you suddenly turn into a late riser in our hotel. During your stay, in our comfortably furnished rooms you will enjoy relaxing from the stress of everyday life. In the morning, when you start the day full of energy – woken up by the bright rays of sunshine – we will be waiting for you with our hearty breakfast.
The holiday Hotel Clara is in the municipality of Varna, northeast of Bressanone. We are at the so-called ‘Gateway to the South‘, which is reflected in the many hours of sunshine and the mild climate. The vegetation also benefits from this fact and so we can look forward to a rich harvest in autumn, which we celebrate with the traditional ‘Törggelen‘.
Excursion destinations
… in the surrounding area
Visit our local mountain, Mount Plose, the fortress in Fortezza, the climbing hall ‘Vertikale’ and the water world ‘Acquarena’ – plus there are many cultural highlights in our area that are well worth a trip. Right here in Varna near Bressanone – about a 15-minute walk away – is the Augustinian Canons’ Monastery of Novacella: with its baroque church and the wonderful garden, it is one of the cultural highlights of the region. After exploring the art gallery, the museum, and the library, you may round off your experience with a visit to the rustic tavern and a wine tasting.
The baroque episcopal city of Bressanone offers a variety of interesting sights, museums, and exhibitions. We will be happy to organize individual tours and visits for you.
Not far away, in the south of the Isarco Valley, lies the medieval town of Chiusa with its romantic winding streets and beautiful old town houses. The pretty small town was immortalized by Albrecht Dürer in his engraving “The Great Happiness” and is still today considered a popular meeting point for artists.
On a trip to the regional capital Bolzano, you may visit the popular ‘Ötzi Museum’, the colourful fruit market and countless art-historical treasures. And if you continue to the charming town of Merano, don’t miss the Laubengasse and the parish church of St. Nicholas. It is also worth visiting the nearby Tyrol Castle with its ‘Bird Show‘. The beautiful Pusteria Valley also offers many unique highlights, for example the MMM – Messner Mountain Museum at 2,275 m on the summit of Plan de Corones.
All cultural attractions mentioned above are easy to reach. The BrixenCard will accompany you during your stay. As our guests, you will receive the BrixenCard upon your arrival, and it allows you to use public transport for free; admission to almost 90 regional museums and castles is also included. And yes, your starting point is the bus stop, which is right in front of our hotel.
Sustainability
We love our nature
At the Hotel Clara sustainability is paramount: from the printing paper in the office, the furnishings in natural design, the drinking water fountains, which are distributed throughout the house, to the farewell gift. We love our nature and therefore take the best possible care of it.
Wherever possible, we use regional products to avoid long import routes and thus support the farmers and food producers from our region.
If you wish to get to know and appreciate South Tyrolean nature in all its facets, our Hotel Clara is the right place for you.
